Performative installation

Limbic is a performance installation composed of multiple fish tanks filled with water, conceived through a detailed study of their acoustic and visual properties, as well as the performativity that arises from their interaction. This proposal stems from one of the most significant lines of Aura Arreola's artistic research: the exploration and development of specific techniques for relational sonic performance.

The Limbic process expands and reconfigures notions of composition, choreography, sound and performance , articulating them around the idea of ecosystem , in which body, instrument, movement and sound are co-activated in real time.

Inspired by two instruments from radically different traditions—the glass armonica and the jalatharangam—Aura Arreola designs the installation by arranging different fish tanks of water around her kinesphere. The spatial arrangement of these elements responds to a choreographic study of sound performance, as well as the possibilities of light projection and reflection in water.

Through a network of contact microphones, hydrophones, sound objects, and electronic devices, an expanded instrument is configured. In interacting with this aquatic and sensorial environment, the artist deploys extended techniques : from circular rubbing and melodic percussion to the multiple sounds of air in water.

These sonic atmospheres generate a continuous dialogue with the body's movement, giving rise to a dynamic assembly of stimuli, resonances, and effects that transform the installation into an immersive and lively experience.
